Pelle à tuiles--oven "shovel" for cookies

This is an everyday object that is so simple, elegant, and beautifully made that has a lyrical grace. Carved from a single piece of oak, this pelle or "shovel" was made especially to put into and pull out of the wood-burning oven a large cookie called a tuile. It is a special adaptation of the large, flat, long-handled pelles still used for the same purpose for pizzas and loaves of bread. A beautiful, one-of-a-kind antique to hang on your kitchen or dining room wall. From the Quercy region; late 1800's. In perfect condition.
