Wild parsnip (
Pastinaca sativus) is the wild ancestor from which all modern parsnip cultivars are derived. This native French plant has delicate umbels of chartreuse flowers followed by highly decorative globe-shaped seedheads. All parts of the plant are edible and tasty--an excellent addition to the wild salad bowl. Plant in full sun, fairly rich soil.
