Bring the flowers of the French countryside into your own backyard! This seed mix contains colorful wild French herbs to use in your kitchen, both in salads and seasoning and as potherbs. It consists of perennials, annuals, and biennials. Because these seeds are collected from nonhybrid wild populations, they have especially pungent fragrance. In addition, they attract myriads of beneficial insects and butterflies to your garden.
'Wild Flowering Edibles' consists of fragrant dill (
Anethum graveolens); coriander (
Coriandrum sativum); wild salsify (
Tragopogon pratensis) with sunny yellow flowers; wild fennel (
Foeniculum vulgare), prized in the Provence kitchen for its pungent flavor; wild mustard (
Barbarea vulgaris), used as a cooking green; and wood avens (
Geum urbanum), whose clove-scented root is used to flavor wine.
Sow 'Wild Flowering Edibles' in open, sunny to lightly shaded, well-drained and worked up ground anytime from early spring through fall. The perennials among them will bloom the second and following years from planting. Dill and coriander will of course bloom the first year and reseed easily. Full instructions in English included. Suitable for all parts of the US.
I've searched for a year to find the right source of French native wildflower seeds to offer you. Here they are! Certified organically grown, these seeds are produced on a flower farm in the
Massif Central by a family group. One hundred percent of the process is artisanal, right down to the seed packets which are decorated with drawings of the content plants by the owner.
